Programs

WCT provides a range of programs from musicals to vacation programs, and weekend workshops to afterschool projects. For an overview of the kinds of programs we offer, visit our ‘What We Do‘ page.

Online registration is available and is HIGHLY recommended! Paper and email registration forms will still be accepted, but they are slower to process, so for popular programs which fill quickly, we encourage the use of the online form.


SUMMER STAGE 2015

Join us as we explore movement, dance, acting and music in this exciting one-week program that focuses on the wacky characters and creative, poetic world of Shel Silverstein. Do you like to sing and dance? Do you like to wear crazy, costume pants? This week, ArtVenturers will create their very own Seuss inspired scenes, songs, artwork, and dances. Who knows, they may stop in Whoville, The Jungle of Jorn, Kalamazoo or wherever their imagination takes them! This program culminates with a showcase on Friday for family and friends.

Join us as we mount an exciting musical in 2 weeks! This musical intensive will have participants singing, dancing and acting their way to a workshop performance on July 24 for friends and family. Besides playing their role onstage, all participants will work on backstage committees to bring their costumes, props and other production elements to life! Once upon a time, in an art center not so far, far away was a third week of ArtVenturers. Hooray! From creating original scenes, songs, artwork and dances to reprising some of Broadway’s greatest fairy tale inspired hits, participants are sure to have a blast. In a re-envisioned version of this WCT staple, students will write, design and rehearse their own film shorts. Learn the tricks of the trade and have your film premiered on cable access TV!

Ever wanted to “exeunt, pursued by a bear”? Want to compare someone to a summer’s day? Perhaps you might like to untangle time or challenge a foe to a duel. All of these things and more are possible in this two-week Shakespeare intensive. Participants will cover a range of material as they work as an ensemble to select scenes, songs, and sonnets to create their own showcase for friends and family.

Prepare for future performances and explore character work through this new intensive program for teens. Participants will gain exposure to varied performance techniques such as Meisner, Stella Adler, and Meyerhold as they create an ensemble production of monologues and scenes. This intensive culminates in a Studio Performance at the end of the second week.

Bard Battles! Shakespeare’s Fight Scenes
Explore the art of stage combat through some of Shakespeare’s most famous fight scenes. Gain classical skills, stage combat experience, while strengthening your acting foundations.

Strengthen your voice through individual lessons with Rebecca Rapoport-Cole! Special attention will be paid to proper vocal technique, performance ability and stage deportment, as well as general music appreciation and awareness.

Tuition: $35/half-hour lesson
Location: Arsenal Center for the Arts, WCT Drama Space
Days/Times: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, 3:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Notice: WCT’s Voice Lesson Policy allows students to keep their assigned slots as long as they continue to register in consecutive terms.* As a result, new slots only become available at the transition between semesters when/if any ongoing students decide not to continue. People who are interested in having voice lessons with WCT are kept on a ‘waitlist’ to be notified as spaces become available. To be added to the waitlist, please contact voice@wctmail.org

*continuing student status does not extend to new students registering for summer session.

Bring theatre to your afterschool program! Watertown Childrenís Theatre partners with Parent-Teacher Associations and school administrators to offer creative dramatics and theatre workshops as part of after-school clubs and enrichment programs. Students are able to participate in these opportunities in the comfort of a known environment and take advantage of school-sponsored transportation (like activity buses) where available.
