WCT provides a range of programs from musicals to vacation programs, and weekend workshops to afterschool projects. For an overview of the kinds of programs we offer, visit our ‘What We Do‘ page.

Online registration is available and is HIGHLY recommended! Paper and email registration forms will still be accepted, but they are slower to process, so for popular programs which fill quickly, we encourage the use of the online form.

WA1 – Looking to brush up your dance skills, scene work, and vocal performance? Then this is the workshop for you! In this 2 hour intensive, students will gain confidence and skills that will assist them in any audition, as well as receive feedback from a mock audition.

WSP1 – Stay and Play! Join us for a class filled with sing-along favorites, theatre games and crafts. Students will explore the characters, music, and mayhem in imaginary and magical theater favorites such as Peter Pan.

WI1A – How do hairstyles shape characters and history? What techniques make a wig look natural on stage? Get the answers to these questions and more as you learn the tricks of the trade for wig and hair design. Students will work with a professional to gain styling, handling and design techniques that will serve them on and offstage.

WI1B – Ever wanted to be able to create super scary makeup or create an ultra glamorous look? Do you have a basic understanding of stage make-up techniques and want to try something new, or take your skills to the next level? Join us for this class just in time for Halloween! Learn how to apply scars, aging, gore, beauty makeup and more!

WI1D/E – Work with a professional dancer/instructor to gain the skills and confidence to join any musical number or dance party! Students in this intensive will work as an ensemble to celebrate their strengths and identify areas that they can improve.

WWH1 – A One-Act play can range from 1 minute to 1 hour – in this class your creativity has no limits! This class will explore adaptations, co-writing, ensemble derived work, verse plays, and other options within the One-Act form based on the interests of the participants. This program culminates with a One-Act Festival where your script will be performed onstage. This program will require some writing during out-of-class time.

WWM1A – Explore the different styles of dance most commonly used in theatre as well as build your knowledge of dance combinations and terminology. Learn essential dance styles from classical to contemporary Broadway musicals in this fun and energetic class!

WWM1B – Do you love singing and dancing? Do you love Glee? Come join us in Show Choir! In this class our choir will build a repertoire of songs and choreography, perform in a final showcase, and carol in the community.

WCY1A – The Foundation course equips students with basic, necessary knowledge in all areas of theatrical design, technology, and safety procedures. Foundation CYC members are eligible to serve as crew members for WCT productions.

WCY1B – Core CYC Members choose a major and minor focus area from the following: Lighting Design, Sound Design, Costume Design, Stage Management, Scenic Design/Painting, Properties Construction and Management, Makeup and Hair Design, Stage Direction, Music Direction.

Training with professionals in these areas provides students with the skills to confidently contribute to a production process. Successful completion of the Core program provides students with the opportunity to lead a technical or production process for a WCT showcase, One-Act Festival, Spring Shorts Festival or other production opportunity as members of the CYC Company. Core members are encouraged to explore several areas before choosing a focus and applying to the CYC Company program.

Bring theatre to your afterschool program! Watertown Children’s Theatre partners with Parent-Teacher Associations and school administrators to offer creative dramatics and theatre workshops as part of after-school clubs and enrichment programs. Students are able to participate in these opportunities in the comfort of a known environment and take advantage of school-sponsored transportation (like activity buses) where available.

Want to improve your skills and get ready for the upcoming year? In these summer voice sessions, you will have the opportunity to enhance your existing strengths and build vocal confidence in an enjoyable, supportive and fun atmosphere!

Ever wanted to ‘exeunt, pursued by a bear’? Want to compare someone to a summer’s day? Perhaps you might like to untangle time or challenge a foe to a duel. All of these things and more are possible in this two-week Shakespeare intensive. Participants will cover a range of material as they work as an ensemble to select scenes, songs, and sonnets to create their own showcase for friends and family.

PRIVATE VOICE LESSONS

Strengthen your voice through individual lessons with Rebecca Rapoport-Cole! Special attention will be paid to proper vocal technique, performance ability and stage deportment, as well as general music appreciation and awareness.

Tuition: $35/half-hour lesson
Location: Arsenal Center for the Arts, WCT Drama Space
Days/Times: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, 12:30-8:30 pm (half-hour slots)

Notice: WCT’s Voice Lesson Policy allows students to keep their assigned slots as long as they continue to register in consecutive terms.* As a result, new slots only become available at the transition between semesters when/if any ongoing students decide not to continue. People who are interested in having voice lessons with WCT are kept on a Wait List to be notified as spaces become available. To sign up for the Wait List, please fill out a registration form at WCT School-Year Private Voice Lessons Wait List.
